Jennifer and Yoni’s North York wedding was an absolute blast and was full of Nostalgia for me.
I grew up in North York, Bathurst st., between Steeles and Finch where I went to elementary school and then went to a Junior High nearby (same junior high as one of the cast members of Degrassi the Next Generation) before moving to Markham.
Needless to say I know that area of North York very well and was very excited when I found out that Jennifer and Yoni would be getting married a 5 minute drive from my old neighbourhood.
A few minutes walk from my old house is G Ross Lord Park and is less than a 5 minute drive from the venue. I explored the expansive park during my childhood as I spent all of my summers and weekends there, either on the soccer fields or biking the numerous paved and unpaved paths with friends. Aside from a fairly large water management reservoir the park features horse stables - yes, horse stables, in the middle of the city.
The park provided no shortage of spots to do the first look, family formals as well as bridal photos. What really worked well is that sun had just started to set and the glare came through the trees and shrubs providing for a magical and whimsical feel.
After a brief ceremony the reception was kicked of in style with a choreographed dance by Jennifer and Yoni, followed by a dry ice champagne tower (how cool is that??). The rest of the evening was celebrated with lots and lots of dancing, laughter and just plain fun!
