Heather and Kevin met in the first few weeks of Kevin starting his teaching job in England. It was love at first sight and they just knew that they were meant to be together. When that realization settled they promptly started planning their wedding. They weighed their options and ultimately decided on a winter wedding in Canada.
The venue that they chose, Rolling Acres, is just a short drive from Kevin's parents house and gives off a very cool country and rustic vibe. Their best kept secret is the expansive lot that the venue sits on, surrounded by dense woods.
Anyone who's experienced a winter in Canada knows just how unpredictable the season can be; we were hit with record breaking snow fall, followed by a thaw and then immediately followed by a deep freeze. The entirety of the field that Rolling Acres sits on turned into a sheet of ice. We quickly improvised and used the back of the parking lot as our photo spot - that, paired with the golden hour worked perfectly to create the look and feel of the photos that Kevin and Heather were going for.
Heather, having been in the wedding industry before had no trouble planning the wedding, even while abroad. Although only a few people were able to travel from the UK the rest of her close family and friends were included in one way or another. Missed family and friends made a presence through pre-recorded video messages and her best friends had "absentee bridesmaids" bouquets. The icing on the cake (sorry, terrible dad joke), was that Heather and her mom made the wedding cake. Yes, Heather is a pro and had her own wedding cake and wedding photography business in the UK.
I had an absolute blast being a part of Heather and Kevin's gorgeous winter wedding and experiencing a blend of Canadian and UK wedding traditions!
