If you feel like having a good cry then stop reading now and go watch Stacy and Brent’s highlight film! Their vows to each other are some of the most emotional and moving ones that I’ve ever heard.
I think their film and photos are also a really good example of why I suggest and often ask whether a couple is considering doing a first look.
In my opinion if the couple is not married to the tradition of seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day during the ceremony; the first look makes that moment that much more special. It’s an intimate and often a very emotionally charged moment that the couple gets to share alone without all of the other external factors (a ceremony full of guests etc…). I also recommend that family members and friends are not present or at least are some distance away from the couple during the first look, just for intimacy’s sake. Although it looks like in the case of Stacy and Brent at least that I am right there in their personal space, I’m actually using a telephoto lens and hanging back 10+ meters.
After the first look we then jumped right into bridal party and bride and groom photos at the same park. Family photos were done on location after the ceremony. Because we were just outside of a no fly zone we were able to do a few quick shots with the drone - BONUS! The rest of the night was celebrated with laughter and happy tears. I’m glad I used a tripod for the speeches as it would have been very difficult to hold the camera still during the many ridiculously hilarious speeches.
P.S. - Stacy, thank you so much for the amazing (and very detailed) review on weddingwire and thank you for inviting me to be a part of your wedding day!
