2020 A Year in Review | Toronto Wedding Photographer and Videographer

2020 has been a year full of gain and loss on many fronts. For us, our baby boy was born but unfortunately we did lose a close family member due to covid. The lockdowns put a huge damper on our travel plans but at the same time forced us to slow down and appreciate the little things.

As for weddings, we feel for everyone of our couples who have had to change plans, postpone or cancel. I know first hand how difficult it is to plan a wedding, having to have all of your plans in a holding pattern and then having to plan and re-plan weeks or days before the event.

What we noticed this year from the weddings that we’ve had a privilege to be a part of:

1. This year has been all about human connections and we were lucky enough to be there and capture those irreplaceable moments on video. Video was essential in 2020 and it will be just as important in 2021. In the past video often felt like an add-on to photos; now however, video is essential. Photos do a great job of showing what the day looked liked but you need video to tell what the day felt like. We were asked to expedite the ceremony edit a bunch of times this year as many family members and friends couldn’t be a part of our couple’s wedding day due to health, restrictions or distance.

2. Elopements and micro weddings rock; I know a few of our couples have been hesitant about them but went that route anyway. The intimacy and being able to spend more time with the people closest to you just can’t be beat

3. Many of the weddings that we were a part of ,that had around 30 or so guests felt like full receptions and didn’t feel small at all. We shot a few backyard tent weddings and it felt like we were in banquet hall.

2021… In March and April of 2020 we all thought that in 2021 everything would be back to normal. As southern Ontario is preparing to go into a lockdown for almost the entire month of January we can see that 2021 will be anything but normal. Regardless of whether there are 2 people (and we are honoured to be their witnesses) or we are back to having 100 person plus weddings we will be there for our couples to capture the most important moments of their lives.

The video above is just a snippet of some of our favourite moments from 2020. We are looking forward to 2021 and documenting our couples tying the knot.
